On Monday, June 27, a group of eight residents worked together to make 100 activity packs for children whose families receive services from various local non-profit organizations. One of the receiving agencies will be the Family Violence and Rape Crisis Center in Pittsboro, where children often need activities to occupy them while their mothers are working with FVRC staff. The packs contain coloring and drawing pages, crayons, and stickers.
On Tuesday, June 28, ten residents helped assemble 200 homemade note pads for families staying in guest rooms at the Ronald McDonald House in Chapel Hill. Just like in a hotel, these families are provided pen and paper in their rooms for jotting down notes and messages.
Thanks to all residents who participated in these projects! We’ll have more Helping Hands programs in the Fall.
