*Dealing with Grief and Loss*: It would be surprising if all of us at Carolina Meadows have not had to deal with Grief and Loss by this stage of life.  Even though it is never easy and is often accompanied by much suffering, it is a part of life.  Come to this session of TED Talks to be inspired by the stories of two women. Although they both deal with death, their talks apply to all issues of loss.

“*What Makes Life Worth Living in the Face of Death?*” 2016

Lucy Kalanithi is a physician who has had to come to terms with the death of her physician husband.  She shares what she has learned about facing the end of life in a personal way but also about helping her aid patients in the choices they have in palliative care or other medical decisions about themselves or love ones.  She offers important and provocative questions for us to ponder and discuss.

“*We Don’t ‘Move On’ from Grief – We Move Forward With It*” 2018

In this second talk Nora McInerny provides another story of death in a serious, but often amusing manner, and in the process helps us recognize that grief, although never “over”, can be a stage to provide a new and meaningful chapter to our lives. She will challenge us and give us tips about how to move forward.  Afterward we will share our own experiences.
