You’re Going to Need a Bigger Calendar

Activities, pastimes, amusements, hobbies, pursuits – call them what you will, if they draw your interest and energy, you will find an encyclopedic selection at Carolina Meadows. You can learn, play, relax, volunteer, compete, listen, advocate, hike, teach, debate…or none of the above. You are free to choose. It’s all in a day’s non-work in your new home.

Events and Activities Include:

  • Saturday night movies: Enjoy popcorn and revisit classics or screen potential future classics
  • MeadowSingers: Weekly chorus practice for fall and spring concerts
  • Art Guild: Paint in various media for display alongside other resident artwork
  • PlayReaders: Join a performance or propose your own script
  • Relaxing games: Gather for bridge, mahjong and more
  • Music at the Meadows: 20+ performances yearly by professional musicians

WALKTOBER WALKING CHALLENGE

*31 Day Walking Challenge Oct 1-31* The goal is to walk a minimum of 10 minutes each day. Walking logs will be available on Meadow Life Fitness and Health page and at the Fitness Center.  Turn in your log to the Wellness department by November 4th to earn a Carolina Meadows shirt.

10:30 am: NOTE TIME CHANGE Chapel Hill Historical Society ‘The Campus at Chapel Hill: 225 Years of Architecture’ (Board Room)

Join us for a discussion of the new edition of Professor John V. Allcott’s book, The Campus at Chapel Hill: 225 Years of Architecture. Professor Allcott was the founder and first chair of the UNC Art Department. He and his wife June were well known in Chapel Hill. His book is a scholarly look at the architectural styles on the campus and provides insights into some of the iconic campus buildings. The new edition includes an addendum covering some of the newer campus buildings by JJ Bauer of the UNC Art Department. Professor Bauer has graciously offered to work with the Historical Society to provide a talk about the book and campus architecture.

Awareness Through Movement 7 week series: Shoulder Smarts Part 2

This class is a form of water exercise and relaxation that combines Tai Chi concepts. It is performed standing in shoulder depth water using flowing, yet powerful combinations of deep breathing and slow broad movements of arms legs and torso. It brings awareness of muscle activity and posture. The movements improve chronic pain, arthritis, neurological conditions and help improve balance deficits. No cost, no sign up required. Come give it a try.
