A Playground For Inquisitive Minds

Carolina Meadows University and World Affairs programs may address fascinating historical events, present day challenges, or increase our audiences’ enjoyment of cultural events such as tap dance, Verdi Operas or bullfighting. Lectures in these program series are sometimes given by academics and other off-campus experts, and sometimes by residents who have a wealth of experience on a broad range of topics.

Carolina Meadows University

CMU was created as a way to keep our residents informed about and engaged. Our diverse programs, led by instructors with a passion for their subject, include lectures, discussions, short-format discussions or deep topical dives.

Learning Resources

Rich educational resources surround us, including courses and lectures at the Friday Center, UNC’s Wilson Library and Duke’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Even closer to home is our sunlit campus library, where you can browse through thousands of books even as you anticipate the hundreds of new titles which arrive each year. Choose from over a thousand DVDs that range from classics to an ever-growing selection of today’s thought-provoking films. The New York Times and Wall Street Journal are just two of a broad spectrum of current periodicals which keep you informed daily, weekly and monthly.

Meet The Residents

A resident since 2012, Lila came to Carolina Meadows and continued to see the world.
