Sports and Games Day—it happens every year on Labor Day at Carolina Meadows. The call goes out for participants in outdoor activities such as beanbag tosses, bocce, croquet, darts, golf pitching and putting, horseshoes, ladder ball, table tennis, and tennis. And residents sign up to compete.
This year more than 80 residents proved they have what it takes. Are we surprised when a woman, age 99, wins the bocce contest? Not really. Not only does she play a great game, she has a good time doing it.
And so do we all. As the volunteer organizer, I can report that it is great fun for everyone. It’s no wonder that Sports and Games Day has been a favorite event here for more than 20 years.
