On September 14 the resident Community Outreach Volunteer Committee and the Department of Social Accountability hosted the 2011 Community Outreach Fair in the Auditorium. The Fair, which is held every two years, provides a unique opportunity for residents to interact with local non-profit agencies and to learn about the various agency needs and opportunities for volunteering in Chatham and surrounding counties. It is also an opportunity for these agencies to show appreciation to Carolina Meadows residents for their contributions of time and funds to their causes.
This year, 31 agencies were represented at the Fair. Over 100 residents and 15 staff members attended the Fair. Fair-goers and volunteers were treated to a delectable spread of yogurt parfaits, salmon canapés, fresh fruit, and mini muffins while they mingled and networked.
One non-profit agency representative said of the Fair, “What a wonderful event. We enjoyed every minute of it! Not only is the Outreach Fair a great chance for us to recruit volunteers for our organization, but it’s also a perfect opportunity for us to simply tell people about what we do and about events we have coming up.”
