World Affairs meets on Fridays at 10:30 am.

The programs for February are:

Feb. 7: Judith Pulley, “The World in 2014” Learn what the analysts and pundits from sources such as The Economist, geopolitical intelligence firm Stratfor and Fareed Zakaria’s “Global Public Square” are forecasting for 2014.

Feb. 14: Henk R. Randau, “The Chinese Economy and Culture Today” Dr. Randau, General Manager at Freudenberg Nonwovens North America, will discuss his understanding of the Chinese economy based on his years as a manager in that country.

Feb. 21: Robert Phay, “Gender Discrimination in Developing Countries: The Moral Issue of the 21st Century” Dr. Phay, now retired, is William R. Kenan Jr. Professor Emeritus and founder of World View at UNCChapel Hill. He is now an active volunteer with “Room to Read,” an organization that seeks to transform the lives of millions of children in Africa and Asia by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education.

Feb. 28: Fareed Zakaria, “India at the Crossroads” (video)
